Silk Road - 27 May 2009 - Russian Church in Kyrgyzstan

. Our next stop was the Russian Orthodox Church which was built in 1896 out of wood. The same architect built this church as the one in Almaty. The interior is quite ornate.

We went into a small supermarket. I was surprised at the similarity to what I would see in a small supermarket back home. The principal difference was the relatively large collection of liquor, especially vodka.

Street Scene in Karakol

Lunch was in a local Karakol restaurant. There was a cucumber sand tomato salad followed by a soup that was more of a stew. The main course was a beef dish.
