Silk Road - 19 May 2009 - Musical Museum in Almati

The Musical museum, also in Panfilov Park, was next on the agenda. The building had previously been used as a museum of Agriculture. It is a wooden building that was built in 1908. It became the Musical Museum in 1980. Upon entry we saw a petroglyf. I have no idea why it is in this museum. Most of the instruments were old, traditional instruments from this part of the world. A woman offered to play some of the traditional instruments for us. It brought things to life. A musical instrument is meant to be played and I enjoyed hearing what they were supposed to sound like.
