Silk Road - 22 May 2009 - Karez in Turfan, China
Karez, which started in the First Century BCE, provided water for the agriculture of Turfan. Apparently they dug the equivalent of wells until they hit water and then built tunnels connecting the wells. I found the place fascinating.
