The wake-up call
came at 5:30 am as advertised and I was able to roll out of bed and throw on
clothes. Tea is served at 6:00 am and
the first safari ride of the day starts at 6:30. I took juice for my pills, coffee and a small
quiche before heading out to the car. It
was quite cold, but they had blankets which helped. The high light was seeing three lionesses
with four cubs. When the car pulled up
the Lionesses looked up and went back to sleep. However when someone in the
other car that was there dropped a pair of glasses, the lionesses took that as
a threat and moved off with the cubs. We
were told that the cubs were 11 months old and were still nursing. They were pretty close in size to the
lionesses. Two of the lionesses each had
two cubs. At 11 months they were really
too big to be very cute. They had that
gangly look often seen in teenagers. Lions reach
maturity at 5 years, but males who are about two and a half are expelled from
the pride.

We stopped for
coffee about half way thru and then returned by about 9:30 for a full
breakfast. Clare, our tour guide took my
suitcase to be repaired. I couldn’t get
internet in my room so I came out to the lobby.
I signed up for the rescue mission tomorrow where I will have the opportunity
to see some cheetahs.

Clare and one of
three staff came to my room with my repaired suitcase. I had previously cleared with Clare that $5
was a suitable amount. I hadn’t signed
up for the bush walk and consequently lounged around. I had lunch and then we went out for the
evening ride. I enjoyed it, but nothing
spectacular occurred.
