I barely made it to breakfast this
morning. Our tour guide asked me if I
intended to go on the excursion to the Shibaozhai Pagoda, which I did. It was for me a rough walk. It was mostly uphill. We passed a lot of vendors selling
souvenirs. To get to the Pagoda, we had
to walk across a shaky bridge which I was not terribly comfortable with. When we got to the platform, which is
surrounded by a small dam to handle the situation when the water is high, we
walked around. I was warned that there
were 99 steps to the top of the Pagoda.
The steps are steep and narrow.
It was recommended that I not go up.
I was concerned about coming down.

I headed back towards the ship. On the way I bought a tiny duck for my
souvenir shelf. The lady asked for
10. I offered 5 and she accepted. I suspect I overpaid. I saw a small elephant made of a green
material. I immediately thought of
Marcy. The woman wanted 85. I offered 20.
We finally settled on 30 (about $5).
We got back to the ship and after resting a few
minutes, I headed to the front of ship to my favorite spot on the 5th
deck. Several ladies joined me. After lunch I returned to that place and
remained until it became too hot. I sat
inside for a while and then headed to my cabin.
